Alright, here's how this is going to work.
We'll play 6 ends to start off with. After the six ends have been played, if the scores are tied, an extra end will be played to decide the winner of the match. In the event of the extra end being tied due to all stones being off the rink, the extra end will be replayed until a winner is found.
So, as I mentioned in my last post, there are 64 spaces available. I will split this into 8 groups of 8 and try to keep to time zones as best as possible. This means you have 7 games, and you will have 7 weeks to play them. After this stage is complete, we will have the top 4 of each group advancing to the last 32, where we will have 8 groups of 4, with the top 2 advancing to the last 16.
There will then be one straight knockout round where we will cut the field down to 8. In the last 8, we will play best of 3 matches, 5 ends each. In the last 4, we will also play best of 3 matches, but at 6 ends each. Then the final will be contested as a best of 5 match, 6 ends each. Obviously more time would be given to play these.
During the group stages, in the event of a tie I will turn to shot difference, if both players that I am deciding between have the same shot difference, then they will play a 2-end deciding match to see who advances.
I know, this is clearly a long process, but I want it to last a long time.
I will throw my name into group A to start things off.
