Resignation Etiquette
Hi, I have a question about etiquette. I was playing a 5-point match online and was losing 4-0. My opponent was clearly going to win; he had only a few more pieces to bear off and I still had a couple of checkers on his home board. Yep, losing badly.

Since he was going to win anyway, I offered to resign – and offered to give him a backgammon. He rejected it. Why would he do this? Was his rejection impolite? Was my resignation offer somehow out of line? Please advise. Thanks.
Some people r just ignorant of the rules of backgammon and don't realize once u get ur first piece off the board they will only win what the bet is......others just want to beat people regardless. For some this is their only interaction with the outside world and they're very petty, never winning anything in life and it gives them a great deal of satisfaction to abuse people anonomously.
