Straight Pool Break,
OK so I know 2 balls have to hit the rail so a safety break is pretty much off the cards but a big split & hoping something goes in seems to hand the advantage to the opponent. Is it worth taking the -2 for a safety break. What do you think the best strategy is for the break off shot in straight pool?
I break like I would in normal billiards.

There is a safe way to play the break off in Straight pool, however, it takes a few practice goes.

Place the white on the far right or left of the break off line and aim to hit the target ball (The latter ball at the bottom right or left of the rack) as thin as you can...

Note: As long as the white ball hits the rail at least 4 times, it is a legal break...

The best way to break without leaving an early birthday for your opponent.

If you struggle with this, tell me and I shall upload a quick video to YouTube.
