For the 2nd time it happened to me to find myself on a big table while playing quick snooker. I asked the opponent what had happened, but just got stupid answer: you may quit if you don't like ... :( That's what I did. So what was wrong there? I don't like to get fooled.

Are you sure it was a big table? It's a valid game option to play with 15 reds in Quick Snooker, but the table size is the same.
