I agree with you, but that's just to make the game mooore exciting. And the games..... are....   very.... exciting ! Arn't they?

I think numbers should emulate real dice. By trying to make it more fun, it destroys the essence of the game.

I must agree.
There are too many doubles and there are too many “the one and only” dice throws.
If I have earned a winning position my opponent will often have the only dice throw that will change the game. 
And why is it so?
Well, you have to give visitors a good time. How?
Give them doubles and give them “lucky punches”.
The problem is you play Monopoly with backgammon rules...

Just play the game for what it is. If you think you need dice go play with someone!
