More Buttons?
How about some additional buttons also in the lobby and pool rooms.

1. a Forum button (especially for the PC version)
2. Contact moderator button.(report abuse link)
3. A button to set the shot timer. (which would be agreeable for both players)
4. A 'Best Of' Button which would give both of the players an option to set how many games they would like to play, (Maybe this button would see the lobby phrase 'Runner' as a thing from the past).
5. A screen shot button.
>1. a Forum button (especially for the PC version)

I was speaking to Baz Attack about such an idea yesterday. FOD really need to advertise the forum more. There's regularly anywhere between 4000-8000 people online and we have probably no more than 40 regular forum users.

That's roughly 1% of FOD users using the forum which in my opinion shows that either some people don't know the forum exists, some people look at the forum and think it looks unprofessional or the approval system makes some people feel that they can't be bothered to wait for posts to appear.

Now a button with a direct link is something I agree with totally :) I also thought that maybe FOD could implement an automated message that appears in the lobby chat window when you first enter a room.. something along the lines of

Click here to come and join the forum community

much like the automated messages you get when a tournament coming up.

Who knows, maybe if you had 10-20% of users using this forum, FOD
may
actually listen to ideas that we put forward as it is more representative of the majority. (But with this logic they won't listen to any of these ideas so we may never actually reach such a figure :p)
i agree with them all apart from the best of button idea.

all the rest would be good additions
yes Chris we did lol.

great post with some very true points. and as we said most people wont know about the forum, and there should definately be some form of advertising for it. for eg theres lots of advertising for the fod toolbar.

i think the best idea is definatley when u enter a room and there should be a link to it.
FOD might not implement a forum button until they actually sort out the way the forums are ran. Because lets face it, if you advertise the forums than that will be more work for the Moderators. I know there is dedicated Moderators but the workload would be insanely high.

So they need to find a system that works so that Moderators don't have to verify every post that is created. As it is now the Mods can't cope. Some posts are verified when they are clearly bad.

I don't know if that's due to language difficulties or just laziness but it's happening!

And no mods - I'm not having a go. I appreciate the hard job you guys do :)
The forum tab is on the frontpage guys! Whats the point of repeating it? When ur in the lobby rooms its because your wanting a game not a post.

If you want to report abuse to a moderater, skip across to the 8 ball room. Thats where they mostly hang out. But use your mute button, what you don't hear/see can't hurt you.

I don't wanna spend half an hour with someone i hardly know deciding on a agreed shot allowance. Play pro for a longer shot time allowance or go to quick, for well you know 20 secs or sumthing.

Best of Button, don't think fod will listen now after such a over repeated request. Snooker is one of they games that requires more than a one frame contest. But its about grabbing what u can for some players.

Screenshot button would be useful! for players who don't know their keyboard. I'd like to see a continue feature put in for break building! how can you acheive the magical 147 if ur opponent jumps over board.

The point made about the forums is a good one, hardly anyone sees the point of posting because there isn't a spokesperson for the website. Maybe there is and they like to remain in the shadows.

Best regards Hops...
Chris, your reply is spot on... the forum is hardly recognised by any members on FOD & it is a good part of the website where members can talk & discuss more about the game.

It was mentioned by someone else about the moderators looking @ every reply & i dont think its a good idea because it can take days for a simple reply to be posted which is ridicuous. They should let all posts be posted & then if the moderatorspots abuse or something then they can simply remove it & warn the player??
I agree with all of you, baz and chris especially, if the forum was easier to access for people who use the pc version then more people might read it and post in it. and it maybe better as a link at the start of the room or in lobby. All of you have valid points of view.
Fod advertising this forum more would mean more work for them, so basically it ain't gonna happen :p

A 'Best Of' Button which would give both of the players an option to set how many games they would like to play

About 2 years ago I agreed with this (when I was still a 16-17 year old idiot and actually cared when someone ran on me), but now it's really got to the point where most of the time I play, I can't be bothered staying for more than 1 game against someone I don't even know, and because I'm rubbish now I'm always low rated and most people at the rate I'm at run anyway and would never agree to having a 'best of' button. I don't think a 'best of' button would work on this site anyway, although it does on some others.

Contact moderator button.(report abuse link)

This is just about the only suggestion I agree with, again such a thing exists on other sites, why not here I don't know. I bet most people who take abuse on here don't even know where to go to report abuse, or even know how to take a screen shot. So say, if there's a 'report abuse' button and you clicked it, it would send the last X amount of lines of text to all moderators' mailboxes, X being something sensible, 8 for instance.
yes Para true. but still who ever uses it? anyone?

what about people who use the web browser version, how would they know about it. i know its on the homepage but id doesnt exactly stand out. a simple message when u enter the lobby wouldnt do any harm
lol para i was meaning in the lobby or game room. (honest:p)
Hmm I spent 20 minutes typing out a long post (even by my standards) replying and agreeing to some of the points made on here and it seems to have vanished ?:|

So in case it wasn't approved for whatever reason.... I agree with hopscottie about the time allowance, it's hard enough finding people to play at certain times of the night, adding allsorts of modifications before you can even agree to play would limit the amount of players available to you.

>They should let all posts be posted & then if the moderatorspots abuse or something then they can simply remove it & warn the player??

They should have a system in which those forum users who are proven to post meaningful and rule following posts do not have to go through the approval system. Those who abuse/break rules cancontinue to have their posts approved by a moderator.

>I bet most people who take abuse on here don't even know where to go to report abuse

I'll agree with that Martin :p Some of the people I've seen in the lobby still think you use moderator@flyordie.com :|

A slightly annoyed Chris... (And hoping this post will get through..)

who ever uses it? anyone?

The point being made in this topic is not who uses it, the fact of the matter is that it is there.

the web browser version, how would they know about it. i know its on the homepage but id doesnt exactly stand out

Exactly, it's on the homepage, it doesn't have to 'stand out', but considering it's right next to the 'Shop' button and just along from the 'Online Games' button - 2 of the buttons I'd imagine most people would use anyway - what exactly would you class as 'standing out'?

a simple message when u enter the lobby wouldnt do any harm

I do agree with this point, something along the lines of 'Forum Discussion -
http://forum.flyordie.com
' when you enter a room - I use the term 'discussion' loosely.

Sorry for completely disseecting your post Baz :p

i was meaning in the lobby or game room.

I will take your word for it and agree with you then, still though like I've said above the fact of the matter is that it's present on the PC version, albeit on the game choice screen.

They should have a system in which those forum users who are proven to post meaningful and rule following posts do not have to go through the approval system. Those who abuse/break rules cancontinue to have their posts approved by a moderator

Of course. We're never going to see the last of the approval system though, sadly.
no probs para. :p

thats what the forum is for :D
Para !!?..... thing about this is the site and forum isnt run vetted or corrected by you... i agree with some of your points but not all.. and typing big long winded explanations to disect parts of the original post and answers,... you fail to mention and point out that reporting abuse sending screenshots and contacting moderators. without going to the fod main page. '' where on fods main page''' ? right at the bottom >>> contact us>>>>> moserator contact form...... dont you think this could be made easier.
and the forum button should be accessible in rooms instead of coming in and out of a games room in PC version or web browser,... your answers are very long made...... i gather your in college and feel the need to exercise your english lit.......wrong or right was eloquently put ;)
No. Some people feel the needs to type in proper English as it's a lot easier to read.

What's worse than reading a paragraph that written out of gibberish?

h1 mert h0\/\/ arE u toder pal?
>your answers are very long made...... i gather your in college and feel the need to exercise your english lit.......wrong or right was eloquently put

Heh, I'm glad one of my posts wasn't accepted now.... it was about 5 times longer than Martin's :p

>>thing about this is the site and forum isnt run vetted or corrected by you...

Where did he claim that? :p

To be fair I'd rather see huge posts that actually put across reasonable and valid points than a few lines of nonsense.

>right at the bottom >>> contact us>>>>> moserator contact form...... dont you think this could be made easier.

Not only should it be made easier but FOD should also inform the players on the site on how to send in a screenshot. Too many people just have no idea about the "new" system (Which was brought in ages ago!).
typing big long winded explanations to disect parts of the original post and answers

With the last part of my previous post aside, all the other points I "dissected" were done so because those statements were made in response to what I previously said. Am I not allowed to have my own point of view?

right at the bottom >>> contact us>>>>> moserator contact form...... dont you think this could be made easier.

Didn't I agree with your Report Abuse button suggestion?:|

I could've easily dissected a lot more of your points but other people already have replied in ways I agree with anyway, but to put it bluntly most of your last post was completely unnecessary and bordering on being personal (even though I've nothing against you!)
Para dude i have nothing against you, I'm flattered anyone takes the time to read my posts and respond to them, and when one of the most respected ppl on fod and fods forum responds like your good self it only brings me pleasure even if you dont agree with everything i said :d...... If any offence was taken I'll apologise now publically, no offence was meant.

The forum is a seriously tongue in cheek place :p
Okay, I probably went slightly over the top in my last post. Apology accepted.
