Quitting Before last throw
I just played an end where I had the final throw.

I was ahead by two when my opponent failed to reach the house on his or her last attempt. In fact, they knocked another one of my stones onto the house, putting me ahead by three with one more easy opportunity to score.

Seeing what was happening my opponent quit immediately before I could take my turn and I was credited with winning by only two.

If a player quits before the final throw when they are losing they should be penalized an extra point not rewarded. At the very least allow the final throw to be made before the game is closed. I see this all the time. People want to cut their loses so they quit before play is complete. In my case a four point win was cut in half.

agree on that ... it`s pretty annoying sometimes...

as well those players who have last stone, get away luckily with scoring 1 and thenquit the game, not giving the chance to kick their asses by having hammer myself
Just now had situation 5 my stones in house and one open oponent stone in the middle. I just made throw and he quitted, so instead to have -6 he got just -1........
yeah i think if a player leave during a game there should be like a 1min or 2 min... some kind of timer... and if they don't come back by some time then you get to throw as many stones as you have left.
this may be a very good solution to imprison "running" opponents during an end.
More effective and finally seems following solution:
Terminate a match abrupt during an end:
1. LEGAL (1 player gets tel.-ringing etc.)
after info per chat -- both player agree the interrupt
the match by returning to the lobby in just the next 60 secs time. In this case no score/point-difference shall occur by them both for only the just last played end (not the finished ends before -- they scored of course).
2. ILLEGAL (those bad players you mean)
They leaves match before /during you plays a stone and steal all your shots in house and maybe damaged situation for cick 1 opp. out and write 6 points, etc. --
From leaving -- the warning clock starts ticking from 60 to 0 and you only has to stay 1s longer in matchmodus and wait.
After 60 sec the "JURY-SLEDGE-HAMMER" beats him with several possibilities:
a) snapping 10 points or even more from his ranking
(anyway you gets this or not)
b) a red card playing-interrupt for a defined time
(several days)
c) at least stopping license for this room.
So at the end after 4 trials and no room entry player can forget curling here.
If readers enjoy my proposal, reply me and I will send it to the fod-redaction.
Neccessary is only an information for all players perhaps in the rule-window or anywhere else.
Hope soon kill this ugly virus

I agree that something needs to be done. The way it is set up now encourages the behaviour I have been seeing. I also just heard that some of the top players do it to maintain their records, this is pathetic. I am new to this game, and enjoy it. I do however see the quitting as a big issue. The current system needs to be modified, it is abundantly clear.
Being one of the socalled 'top players', I'd like to inform most uf us don't do that at all :)

Thos doing that is mainly the 'wannabe top players' who never play high raters, and increase their rate by playing low-raters. Disgusting behaviour if you ask me : )

Once you get to be a high ranker, the problem seems to get smaller.

Good luck curling :D
I disagree with Snella - (sorry if I got the name wrong) about people only playing lower rated players to increase their own - I for one try to play higher players but are refused the challenge. So I play the lower end players because they accept the challenge.
Most of the time they wont quit before the last rock and they will play at least 4 ends.
I dont think that 1 end is a game - it should be a minimum of 4 ends PERIOD.
if someone leaves before the end of the end all shots not made by the remaining person should be considered points.
i to have been quit on several times i dont like it. if i happen to have to leave early i always chat or ask my opponent if we finish the end. never been rejected. i think common courtesy is all one needs to play this game. also it is a social game chat with your opponents. i always ask where they are from and i have played people from all over the world and i think that is totally awesome. only sometimes there is a language barrier but try to make do. i also would like a 4 end minimum 10 gets a little long but still very doable. i really like this site and it has fun playing only been here for a couple months and dont get to play everyday but i like it.
