I would like an opinion from others about what they do when an opponent is not curling! No broken connection, just not playing shots for one reason or another(maybe the boss is watching?) Would you not play also, or go for the gusto and a 6, 7 or 8 ender? 
I go for 8 enders lol. I think people do this trying to get you to quit and then they'll earn easy ratings points. If you don't care about your ratings, then just leave.

We should be starting a thread and out these players so we can avoid them.
i can honestly say that i have been on both sides of this. but when i wasn't playing it was because i had been for so long that i fell asleep. haha. but i have played people who didn't shoot after 1st shot then shot again on last rock so i suspect they thought i might quit.
I've had this happen to me too.  I stuck with it and turned in a few high point ends and eventually punished them with a big loss of points.  I think it's the only thing that can be done to stamp it out.
I have encountered this on a number of occasions. Curling, like golf, is supposed to be a "gentleman's sport." As a result, it is considered VERY POOR SPORTSMANSHIP to rack up a 7 or 8-ender in this situation. However I'm not suggesting that no one takes advantage of the situation.Essentially, 'Live with your own conscience.' I will normally put 2 or 3 rocks into the house & then send the rest of them into the boards. 
I just put them all in, if they don't want to shoot then its their problem as I play 10 enders so if they are messing me around it backfires on them.
If someone runs, the opponent gets points awarded according to:

1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10_Ends
3-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2__Points

So, with 3 ends left and ahead by 8, player can leave and win by 1.

With the new (slightly faster) time controls AND the new rating system, 
time wasting abuse
 will be much less of a burden going forward.
