You're able to select their name in the player list in the lobby/room and click mute. However it doesn't seem permanent. Every time iv ever used the mute option iv had to re-mute them after a few days for some reason as it seems to somehow automatically unmute them after a while.

Sadly there's not really any other way that I know of.
